Verification Policy
Verifications are processed on a case-by-case basis. Verifications are processed by third party servicer, FAS, Inc. Documents are scanned and uploaded to a secured database. If a student’s FAFSA is selected for Verification, the Financial Aid Department will notify the student via email, clearly explaining the student’s role in the process and any documents that must be submitted. Throughout the duration of the verification process, the Financial Aid Department will inform students via email of any deadlines for document submission. The procedures used to correct FAFSA data include: directing the student to log back into the FAFSA and make required changes and/or providing an authorization form to the student and/or parent or spouse as applicable, authorizing a school official or third party servicer representative to correct data.
After Verification has been successfully processed and finalized, the school will notify students via email in a timely manner to discuss financial aid and any changes resulting from verification (such as changes to Student Aid Index and Title IV aid amounts), as applicable.
The consequences of failing to submit or missing deadlines for document submissions or corrections to verification paperwork may delay student’s enrollment in class unless:
If the institution or third-party-servicer representative has cause to believe that the student, and any other applicable parties (such as parent or spouse) have intentionally provided false or fraudulent information during the FAFSA Verification process, the institution may notify the U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General via standard procedure as described on the federal government website: https://oig.ed.gov/oig-hotline.
